Note (Dec. 17): added rule 51b to clarify rule on keeper contracts and waivers:

Players who are dropped as a result of a waiver transaction retain their contract status if they are acquired (by any team) during the same season. The player’s contract expires if he remain a free-agent entering the off-season.
